Fire owner gives $50,000 gift to kids foundation

The FireWorks for Kids Foundation, the Chicago Fire's nonprofit arm that helps underprivileged youth in the Chicago, has received a $50,000 donation from Ellen and Andrew Hauptman.

Hauptman is the owner and chairman of the Chicago Fire. He also serves as chairman and CEO of Andell Holdings, a private investment firm that he controls along with his wife.

As a result of that gift, The Anschutz Family Foundation, which is aligned with former Fire owner Phillip Anschutz, made a matching gift of $50,000 to the foundation.

"Ellen and I strongly believe that the Chicago Fire has an obligation to serve the community and give back to those in need. The FireWorks for Kids Foundation has provided tremendous service and opportunity to underprivileged youth for more than a decade. We hope our gift, along with the generous support provided by the Anschutz family, will help ensure that the foundation's good works will continue for some time to come," said Hauptman.

Now entering its 11th year, the FireWorks for Kids Foundation is a non-profit organization that enables the Fire contribute to the community through various grants and contributions to youth oriented initiatives and programs.
