Don't denigrate law enforcement
Way to go, Governor. At a time when the world and the Olympic committee are appraising Chicago, our state's pinnacle city, as a viable contender to host the games, you declare it to be an uncontrollable nest of crime.
Only you can save it from this condition by marshaling your forces. As a politician, what is your vast experience in fighting crime? When were you on the streets at a one-on-one level? You denigrate the experience, skill and efforts of the police teams in Chicago and surrounding towns when you let loose like this, whatever your motivation. Let these law enforcement professionals, who are well aware of the challenges they face, do the work they're trained to do without interference from Springfield. If they need help they'll let you know.
All world class cities large enough to be able to put together the resources, space and infrastructure to welcome the Olympic Games face crime and safety issues. Most don't have a governor trying to pull the rug out from underneath them as they present their credentials.
