The Illinois State Bar Association, ISBA, awarded Wheaton resident Joseph R. Fortunato Jr., its 2008 Board of Governors Award. Fortunato, whose law practice, Fortunato, Farrell, Davenport & Arnold Ltd., is in Westmont, was honored for significant service to the profession and the public. He is a past president of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association and a past chair and associate newsletter editor of the ISBA Real Estate Law Section Council, a liaison with the Illinois Association of Realtors and a member of the ISBA Assembly.

Tracy Cannizzo, a Glen Ellyn social worker for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care of Chicagoland Northwest, received the VITAS Emmy Philhour Rookie Caregiver of the Year award in recognition of her service to patients and families. Cannizzo joined VITAS in 2007.

Communications veteran Kim Kubiak joined Centegra Health System as senior public relations coordinator. Kubiak, of Woodstock, most recently served as general manager for the Woodstock Independent for three years. She has also served as executive director of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, as well as managing editor for a group of three weekly newspapers in the Sycamore area.

Woodstock resident Victor Narusis joined Dixon Companies Inc., McHenry, as vice president of finance and development, responsible for the management of all financial duties and the coordination of development efforts throughout the United States.

The following Farmers Insurance agents were inducted into the Farmer's Topper Club of top sales producers: Scott Johnson, agent, Grayslake; Mike Maione, agent, Highland Park; Jon Robb, district manager, Libertyville; and Joseph Bertram, agent, Lincolnshire.

The National Association of Business Resources named Assurance Agency Ltd., Schaumburg, one of Chicagoland's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. This is the third year in a row the company was awarded the honor.

Neil Reyes was named director of security at S pring Hill Mall, West Dundee. Reyes will be responsible for training and deployment of public safety officers and interior and exterior security of the mall. He has served in the field of law enforcement for the past six years.

With 28 years of commercial lending experience, John Spear joined Amcore Bank as a commercial division manager and senior vice president in Aurora. Spear assists team members with complex account relationships and leads the sales management process for his division.

Additionally, Kevin Thomas, a commercial relationship manager for Amcore Bank in Schaumburg, was promoted to commercial division manager and vice president. Thomas joined Amcore in October of 2005.

Grubb & Ellis Company, Chicago, named Ari Klein senior vice president. Klein previously served as vice president at the John Buck Company.
