The Midlane Club: Upscale single-family homes

Midlane Club offers upscale single-family homes and amenities at its new golf course community in north-suburban Wadsworth, known as the village of country living.

Naperville-based J. Lawrence Homes is building 61 homes on the site of the Midlane Country Club, which includes an 18-hole golf course, driving range, tennis courts and clubhouse with swimming pool, fitness center and gathering areas.

Located off Yorkhouse Road east of I-94, Midlane Club offers buyers eight floor plans, including a ranch design, with up to four bedrooms, two to three baths, attached two- or three-car garages and basements.

"When we started J. Lawrence Homes, we set out to offer family-friendly layouts and upscale designs, and the new models at Midlane Club represent the lifestyle and amenities that buyers can expect in our communities," said John Wozniak, president of J. Lawrence Homes.

Two new models that recently opened show many standard features that are uncommon with other builders, including nine-foot first-floor ceilings, full oak railings, tray ceilings in master bedrooms, double-bowl vanities in master and secondary baths, and partial basements.

Home buyers have been enthused about the models, especially transferees moving to the Chicago area who want to move into a home right away. Some have taken positions at corporations such as Abbott Laboratories and Baxter International Inc. or at the Great Lakes Naval Base, said Jim Chittaro, chief financial officer for J. Lawrence Homes. "We always have at least one immediate delivery home in every floor plan to serve these home buyers."

One of the featured models is The Riviera, priced from $329,900 with 2,674 square feet, four bedrooms, 2 baths and a two-car garage, with optional three-car garage.

This home features a two-story foyer with staircase, maple wood flooring and arched openings. The foyer opens to the living room, furnished with a leather sofa and two chairs, and dining room where there's plenty of space for a formal dining table for six.

With a touch of Tuscany, the kitchen showcases black appliances, 42-inch maple cabinetry with crown molding, granite countertops and center island. The sink overlooks the back yard.

A fireplace with granite surround and wood mantle highlights the family room while a private den occupies a corner on the first floor. A half bath with pedestal sink sits off the garage entry.

Upstairs, double doors open to the master suite with a deep tray ceiling, gold walls, spread and draperies that contrast nicely with the white trim. There is a large sitting area, his-and-hers walk-in closets, and the bath features a corner soaking tub, walk-in shower and split vanities.

Secondary bedrooms include a room done in pastels for a little girl, a boy's room with a sports motif and a room with a chalkboard wall that will interest kids at any age. The second-floor full bath and laundry room each have a window.

The largest home offered at the community is The St. Andrews, priced from $379,900 with 3,250 square feet, four bedrooms, three baths and three-car garage.

This is a great family home where it's easy to curb clutter with its four walk-in closets, walk-in pantry, storage cabinets in the second-floor laundry room and partial basement.

A large two-story foyer features oak hardwood flooring, credenza topped with accessories and art niche.

This home shows eggplant and teal walls and furnishings, and arched openings on the first floor. A teal sofa and two chairs furnish the carpeted living room while in the dining room, there's a large dining table with six chairs and a mirror that lends a spacious feel.

A fireplace with granite surround warms the family room, which is furnished with a large sectional that will seat several family members.

The kitchen showcases stainless steel appliances, 42-inch maple cabinetry topped with granite, center island and walk-in pantry.

The corner den with sage walls and a classic car motif has a view of the pond. A full bath with pedestal sink sits off the den and garage entry.

Upstairs, the master bedroom features a deep tray ceiling, soft blue walls, white shears and two walk-in closets. The bath has an arched headway over the soaking tub, walk-in shower and split vanities.

Secondary bedrooms include a hot pink and green room with white furnishings, a boy's room with a sports theme and a nursery done in blue. There is also a full hall bath and laundry room on this level.
