Court dangerously wrong about guns
The claim by the Republican-controlled Supreme Court that there is an individual constitutional right to a gun is both wrong and dangerous.
It is dangerous because scientific studies show a gun in the home is 30 more times likely to cause the death of a relative or friend than it is in a self-defense killing against a stranger-intruder (New England Journal of Medicine, June 12,1986).
More children and spouses will die because of this court.
And the new ruling wrongly overturns a previous Supreme Court ruling that has been the law of the land for more than 60 years, (U.S. v. Miller (307 US 174, 1939). That ruling cited the constitution's militia clause, and concluded that:
"With obvious purpose to assure the continuation and render possible the effectiveness of such forces the declaration and guarantee of the second amendment were made. It must be interpreted and applied with that end in view."
The right belongs to those in a government-controlled militia... not to anybody else!
