Longtime Buffalo Grove chiropractor honored

For 20 years, chiropractor Eric Smith has run his business in Buffalo Grove, celebrating the anniversary of Smith Back & Neck Pain Center this month.

Above that, however, Smith has contributed his 20 years in town to the community, currently serving as the president of the Buffalo Grove Area Chamber of Commerce.

On Monday, the village board honored Smith with the Golden Bison Award, which is given out to exceptional business owners and contributors to the village.

"Eric has been a stalwart member of the community for many, many years," Village President Elliott Hartstein said.

Besides being a part of the chamber, he also is a member of the Rotary Club and has been past president of the organization.

He has been a plan commissioner since 1999, and before that, he was part of the appearance commission and board of health.

"Everything I've done I've truly enjoyed," Smith said.

Hartstein said Smith and his family also can be found helping to serve food at the annual Buffalo Grove Days pancake breakfast. Smith also is a coach of a basketball team through the Buffalo Grove Park District.

"It's indeed an honor to give (him) special recognition," Hartstein said.

Smith said he hopes to continue his service to the community as he's done for 20 years.

"I'm very thankful for the friendships I've made over the years," he said.
