Chicago murder suspect arrested in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A man wanted for murder in Chicago is being extradited from Cedar Rapids after authorities found him in a downtown hotel.

Mickey Mason was inside of a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Monday afternoon when police received a tip to his whereabouts. Around 4 p.m., police, U.S. Marshals and Division of Criminal Investigations detectives went to the Crowne Plaza to arrest him.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says authorities knocked on the door and Mason came out peacefully.

He was taken to Jones County Jail and is being held their until his extradition to Chicago.
