Accident with injuries in St. Charles

St. Charles police and fire responded to a multi-car accident at the corner of South 5th Avenue and Riverside Avenue Friday morning.

Four cars were involved in the chain reaction accident that sent three people to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, said Sgt. Mike Taylor of the St. Charles Police Department.

He said none of the injuries are life threatening. He said the accident took place at about 6:35 a.m. and took about an hour to clean up.

He said the Y-shaped intersection has been blamed for a number of accidents in recent years.

"It really is a strange intersection because it's not what most drivers are accustomed to," he said. "But, it's not as much of a problem as people believe."
