Yes, all firecrackers should be banned

Kudos to the towns banning fireworks of any kind (as reported in the July 5th Herald).

The whole month of July has become a nightmare in Arlington Heights as the never ending booms terrify the animals and small children.

On Sunday evening, firecrackers were put in the gas tank of a car around the corner from my house.

The car blew up. Miraculously, no one was hurt.

But the parents who supply the fireworks are just as guilty as those who supply their kids with alcohol.

The police say they can't do anything about it. Perhaps if they didn't concentrate on guaranteed moneymakers like parking tickets and seat belt violations, incidents like that wouldn't be repeated.

Better yet, I would asked the Arlington Heights trustees to propose banning all fireworks here, and put teeth into it with stiff fines.
