What Muslims oppose terrorists?

In response to Mr. Junaid M. Afeef's letter of July 7.

He states: "Quite frankly, Muslims do speak our regularly against violence perpetuated in the name of Islam, and they will continue doing so as long as terrorists misappropriate Islam to justify their barbarism."

I believe myself to be well read on current matters and cannot recall any Muslim of any significance in any way being critical of these Islamic militants.

Please, Mr. Afeef, some quotes from these freethinking Muslims. After all, you are the director of Public and Government Affairs of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.

Perhaps I have overlooked your past quotes concerning this matter - or of other members of this council.

Certainly, as you have mentioned in your letter, many Muslims hold very significant roles in society. Where are their leadership quotes?
