Veto threat blocks Democrats' work

I keep reading letters to the editor complaining about the Democratic-controlled Congress doing nothing about the high price of gas, food and taxes.

Granted, the Democrats are in the majority. It must be remembered the majority is very slim. In the Senate, it is only two votes.

Nothing passed by the House and Senate is veto proof.

If the president doesn't like the legislation, he'll veto it and that's that.

Since the president likes tax breaks for the very wealthy and a higher rate for the poor and middle class, no amount of legislation passed by this Congress will ever see the light of day because of his veto.
