Briefs: Huntley starts sewer work

Huntley has started a $2 million project to extend water and sewer lines south of Interstate 90. The extended lines will cross under the interstate and serve future development south of the tollway. Huntley already has annexed two parcels southwest and southeast of Route 47 and the tollway. The rest of the land the water and sewer lines will serve falls within an area the village plans to eventually annex. The village expects the water and sewer work to last the rest of the year's construction season.

Village celebrates 50 years:

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Sleepy Hollow is selling limited edition diecast replicas of police squad cars. Cars come in a clear case with a base and feature hoods and door that open. The cars are $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. Add an extra $10 to receive a Sleepy Hollow police department shoulder patch. All proceeds benefit the the Illinois Special Olympics. The cars are available for purchase at www.shpd.org/diecast.html or can be picked up at the police station, 1 Thorobred Lane.
