McHenry County cops hold charity 'Donut Run'

McHenry County police are going on a doughnut run, and they're inviting motorcyclists to join them.

Next weekend's Shop with a Cop Donut Run will benefit a charity program that pairs needy youngsters with police officers for a morning of holiday shopping in December.

The motorcycle tour of western McHenry and Boone counties begins Saturday morning and finishes with food, entertainment and -- of course -- a doughnut-eating contest.

Last year, charitable easy riders helped provide nearly 200 kids with winter clothing and $150 each to buy toys and gifts.

The cost of the Donut Run is $35 for a single rider and $40 for doubles.
