Thanks for follow-through on potholes
Open letter to Chuck Serchuk, highway commissioner of Elk Grove Township regarding potholes on Route 83 between Oakton Street and Algonquin Road: It was a pleasure speaking with you today, Chuck, on the deplorable condition of this stretch of road in Arlington Heights.
This area, which carries heavy truck traffic, was littered with enormous potholes after the winter thaw. I felt as thought I was driving through an obstacle course in an effort to avert one of these "craters" and blow a tire. As I explained, some patch work has been done but MUCH more still needs to be done.
After calling several local offices to determine the agency responsible for this area of road, I was fortunate enough to speak with you. You advised that this area falls under the authority of IDOT and that you would contact them for additional repairs.
I was thrilled and delighted to receive your follow-up call this afternoon, advising me that you did, in fact, contact IDOT and that they will be patching the remaining potholes.
My personal thanks, as well as the thanks of countless others who navigate this route, for your OUTSTANDING service to the community.
