1 injured in Mundelein-area crash

One bicyclist was injured Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on Midlothian Road, officials said.

The unnamed cyclist was riding his Mongoose bicycle about 5:58 a.m. on the shoulder of Midlothian Road about 50 feet north of Countryside Lake Drive near Mundelein when struck in the shoulder from behind by the side mirror of a passing SUV, said Sgt. Christopher Thompson from the Lake County Sheriff's office.

Vitaliya Dubilirer, 58, of Long Grove, the driver of the Chevy Trailblazer, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Thompson said.

The cyclist was taken by Countryside Fire Protection District to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life threatening injuries, Thompson said.
