Three charged in Villa Park home invasion

Three people faced myriad criminal charges Monday after a weekend domestic dispute in Villa Park.

Police said they responded to a 911 call at 5:20 a.m. Sunday to an apartment complex on the 400 block of Ardmore Avenue in Villa Park.

Upon arrival, officers spotted several people standing in a driveway. Two of them were armed with baseball bats. Authorities said four people had forced their way into one of the apartments and used the bats to attack the residents, injuring three, and to break windows in the residence and a car.

Prosecutors charged three of the four suspects.

Diana Zomparelli, 41, 10459 Dorise Court, Rosemont, and Richard O'Connell, 18, 150 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines, were charged with aggravated battery, criminal trespass to a residence and mob action. Zomparelli also faces endangering the life of a child charge.

The third defendant is an underage female. She was transported to the DuPage County Youth Home pending an appearance in juvenile court on criminal trespass, mob action and criminal damage to property charges.

Villa Park police did not return a phone call Monday seeking a motive for the fight, the extent of the victims' injuries and how a child was involved in the disturbance.
