Autopsy determines baby was murdered
The Cook County medical examiner's office has determined an 11-month-old baby found inside an Evanston home was murdered.
Clarashea Hebron of Chicago died Monday at Children's Memorial Hospital. An autopsy Tuesday revealed the baby died of multiple injuries resulting from child abuse.
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Kendall Marlowe said the agency is investigating the baby's death. He said DCFS had no prior contact with the parents and there were no other children in the home.
Evanston police say paramedics went to the home on a report an infant was in medical distress. After determining the child needed further medical treatment, she was taken to a nearby hospital. She was then transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital where she later died.
Evanston police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the death.
