Let us count the ways

Three reasons we love the Raceway ...

First, Raceway Woods has the best volunteers, bar none. Our last work day held on May 31 brought out more than 50 volunteers for a day of brush cutting, tree planting and trail grooming. It is more than work for our volunteers, who range in age from kindergarten to senior citizens. It has become a place to meet friends while contributing to the community. We love our volunteers!

Second, we have the best intergovernmental cooperation at work between the Dundee Township Park District, the village of Carpentersville, Dundee Township, Dundee Township Highway Department and the Kane County Forest Preserve District. Together these governmental bodies have committed to maintenance of Raceway Woods and have budgeted for future improvements. A special thank goes to Kane County Board member John Fahy for being the catalyst behind the recently installed new bridge providing a much needed creek crossing. We love to see cooperation between our government representatives.

Third, we have a great group of community minded people working together to bring a special "party" to the Raceway. We are about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first race event held at Meadowdale International Raceway on Sept. 13-14 in 1958. There are great people making great plans for two wonderful days at the Raceway on September 13-14, 2008. We love to celebrate the Raceway. We want to do it with you!
