Early morning crash critically injures Aurora woman

Police continue to investigate Thursday's early-morning crash on Route 31 between Batavia and North Aurora which injured two people, one critically.

Victoria Roesner, of Aurora, was driving a Honda CRV north through a lane-reduced construction zone when, police say, she crossed the center line and struck a southbound Chevy Tahoe.

Roesner, 27, of 603 E. Benton St., Aurora, was flown by Superior Ambulance AirMed1 to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where she was listed in critical condition, according to sheriff's police Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the Tahoe, Nicholas J. Venneman, 56, of 968 Lockwood Lane, Batavia, was taken to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, treated and released.

The accident took place at about 6:30 a.m. just north of Mooseheart Road.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

No citations have been issued, and police say it is not clear if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash. Sheriff's police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.

Route 31 was closed from Millview Drive in Batavia to Mooseheart Road for about two hours.
