Briefs: District renews snow deal
The Huntley Unit District 158 school board has renewed its snow removal contract with Tovar Snow Professionals. The board renewed the contract for the next two years after Tovar agreed to charge the district the same amount it charged this year. The contract costs about $160,000. The district selected Elgin-based Tovar after Moore Turf Care caused about $24,000 in damage to district property while removing snow last year.
Village seeks roadwork action:
The Carpentersville Village Board signed a resolution Tuesday imploring Kane County to prioritize work on Huntley Road from Route 31 west to Randall Road. Though engineering for the project was completed in 2005, no further work has been done. Village officials say the work should be completed sooner rather than later to avoid increasing construction costs. The estimated cost of completing work such as realigning, widening and resurfacing the 2.57 mile stretch is estimated at $16 million.
