Due to fire code issues at the Elgin Art Showcase, the Elgin Theatre Company has rescheduled its production of "A Comedy Spectacular." The play will be presented at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 and at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin.
From out of the past come those thrilling sounds of yesteryear as Groucho Marks, Laurel and Hardy, Rodney Dangerfield, Abbott and Costello, and more bring their best to audiences again.
The Elgin Theatre Company summer 2008 production of "A Comedy Spectacular" provides you with a reenactment of the highlights of many Old Time Radio Comedy Shows. Take our time machine back to the past and be able to hear the comedy of some of the funniest and most original comics who have ever lived. Be ready to roll in the aisles with old and new material from the Bob and Ray, Jonathan Winters, Phyllis Diller, Flip Wilson, Bob Newhart, and more.
"Funny is an attitude" said Flip Wilson and that is the premise of this production. Enjoy one belly laugh after another as we recreate these historical and hysterical comedies for you.
