Another alligator found in Chicago area
Officials say they've captured a 40-inch American alligator near a suburban Chicago lake.
Will County Forest Preserve spokesman Bruce Hodgdon says officials used raw chicken to lure the alligator into a humane trap on Thursday morning near Lake Renwick in Plainfield.
Hodgdon says the alligator approached staffers last week while it was still in the lake.
He says the animal is still young and could have been an illegally acquired pet that was dumped in the lake.
The alligator has been given to the Chicago Herpetological Society for care and return to the Gulf Coast.
In June, a 5-foot alligator was found in the Chicago River.
