Andrew Bellmer WW South The junior led the Tigers in scoring this season with 10 goals and 5 assists in a rebuilding year, moving around the pitch as needed. According to coach Guy Callipari, "his worth is gauged by his willingness to lead by example. He worked endlessly to create and finish for us." Bellmer was also calm under pressure throughout and will be looked to for leadership both on and off the field for next year's squad.

Chris Boswell Naperville North Boswell is an old-school, lunch-bucket midfielder, "a great athlete -- fast, strong and just a competitor," said Huskies coach Jim Konrad. "You might never say 'Wow' when you see him out there, but he's everywhere. He plays box to box, sideline to sideline." The junior played big in the Huskies' regional title win over Plainfield Central, but his ability to consistently win balls all over the field marked his real value for the 17-4-2 Huskies.

Trevor Bushhouse Wheaton North The senior played all over the pitch for coach Bryce Cann this year in an 11-6-6 campaign and a run to a Class 3A sectional semifinal. "He's good enough to attack and create, and his willingness and ability to defend add another dimension to his game," Cann said. Bushhouse netted 11 goals this season, was exceptional in the air throughout and played consistent soccer from start to finish for the Falcons. Wheaton, Calvin and Hope are three that he might play for.

Bryan Ciesiulka Neuqua Valley The junior Ciesiulka "is our captain and our key to success," according to coach Jim Johns, and the junior's 15 goals and 14 assists reflect the top-shelf scoring and distributing abilities that helped the Wildcats to a 21-4-2 record and a second consecutive downstate berth this season. Ciesiulka's work rate is also unsurpassed, and he now has 24 goals and 26 assists through two seasons of varsity play.

Bryan Dosch Neuqua Valley If you're in the market for a holding midfielder with attacking skills, look no further than Dosch, whom coach Jim Johns calls "a surprise for us this year. He dominates the middle of the field defensively, and he can attack with the best." The senior is strong in the air, relentless, a ball-winner and very tough to beat. "He just runs all over the field for us. He's one of the best players around."

Bryan Emanuel Glenbard West Emanuel moved from a defensive midfield to a sweeper's role this year due to team need but was still involved in half of the Hilltoppers' goals this season thanks largely to one of the best throw-ins anywhere in the high school game. The physical, field-smart senior leader led the team in minutes played, had 7 goals and 18 assists; he finished with 13 varstiy goals and 30 assists for Glenbard West.

Jerry Maddi Naperville Central The Michigan State-bound attacking player "was really the reason we've had offensive success the last three years," coach Jay Konrad said. "He knows when to get other people involved and when to go 1v1." Maddi is a physical player with scoring and distributing skills that saw him finish this season with 12 goals and 13 assists, and 27 goals and 20 assists for his career. "He's a big strong kid, tackles like a ton of bricks, and he's got touch," Konrad said.

Mike Mascitti Downers Grove South Mascitti had a physical presence at midfield that was unsurpassed in the area, and either Marquette or Loyola may get "a big, strong, physical kid who dominates in the air," said Mustangs coach Jon Stapleton. Mascitti finished with 13 goals and 5 assists for a 17-7-1 team that reached a Class 3A sectional title game this year. "First and foremost, he has wanted the team to succeed," Stapleton said. "He's been a special player for us."

Connor Miller Benet The junior managed 8 goals and 5 assists from his defensive midfield spot for this year's 10-10 Redwings, and his leadership qualities made him one of the rare juniors to be voted team captain by his teammates in coach Henry Wind's 19 years at the helm. "His work ethic is outstanding, he has great speed and strength, and he's not our biggest kid but he won the majority of our air balls this year," Wind said.

Ken Miller Lake Park Miller was a force on the outside at midfield for coach Norm Hillner's 14-6-5 squad, "an explosive player with the speed and skill to change a game," according to Hillner. Miller did just that on Sept. 15, keying the Lancers' 4-3 win over Neuqua Valley this year. The senior finished with 11 goals and 9 assists, taking defenders on at speed and turning the corner with the best of them all season. Considering Benedictine University, St. Xavier and Dominican.

Bryan Noval Glenbard North The senior forward finished with 18 goals and 5 assists for the 11-6-4 Panthers, played big in DuPage Valley Conference games all year, and "he was the offensive catalyst for our team," according to coach Greg Chrisman. "He's one of the most technically gifted players in the area." Noval drew multiple defenders all year but consistently shined in holding the ball up top and creating scoring chances for the Panthers this year. Noval finished with 32 goals and 12 assists in his career.

Luis Ortega West Chicago One coach after another this year called the junior midfielder the best player in the DuPage Valley Conference, and Ortega struck fear into every back line he faced with a ball at his feet this year, finishing with 11 goals and 3 assists for the 13-7-3 Wildcats. "He can strike it from anywhere, right- or left-footed, equally hard, and I haven't seen a kid all year that could keep up with him with a ball on his foot," said Wildcats coach Steve Brugmann.

Nik Patel Waubonsie Valley The Warriors relied on the junior sweeper this season, and he didn't disappoint. "He's fast, quick, good in the air, and he has great skills," according to coach Angelo DiBernardo. "He also has a great shot. He's just a very good all-around player." Patel has exceptional anticipation and distributed out of the back with the best of them this season after moving back from a midfield role due to team need this year.

Konrad Raclawski Lisle Lisle's all-time leading scorer departs with 84 career goals and 16 career assists as a four-year varsity starter. After playing up top his first three seasons, Raclawski moved to attacking midfielder and posted 24 goals and 13 assists this year in leading Lisle to a 17-6 record this season. According to Lisle coach Paul Kohorn, "coaches had to game plan for him, or they were in trouble. As Konrad went, so went the team."

Ryan Roberts York Roberts posted 17 goals and 12 assists in leading York to the West Suburban Silver title this year and a record of 14-5 overall. The senior scored 7 game-winning goals, had a tremendous work rate, good speed with the ball and was one of the area's best finishers. Roberts will play at the next level and is considering both UIC and NIU.

Nick Roth Glenbard East The Rams struggled this year, but Roth stood out as one of the area's best back line players. Coach Josh Adler called Roth "our MVP this year. He was the most consistent, reliable, durable player we had. He lived up to every expectation." Roth's on-field presence followed him to midfield for a stretch, but he made his name this year as a central defender who was strong on the ball, made excellent on-field decisions with the ball, and was a team captain and leader.

Jake Schemper Timothy Christian Schemper led the Trojans to their program's first state title game this year, posting 13 goals and 20 assists to finish with 39 goals and 42 assists for his career. Schemper was named to the all-tournament team of this year's Pepsi Showdown for the Class 1A runners-up, and he's considering Hope, Grinnell and Wake Forest for college soccer. According to Trojans' coach Rudi Gesch, "Jake is the most talented player in the history of our soccer program."

Ryan Seager Wheaton Academy The senior goalkeeper anchored a Warriors team that reached a Class 2A sectional championship game this year. Wheaton Academy went 14-5-4 and, according to coach Jeff Brooke, "Ryan won a lot of those games for us. We were fine with the ball being in his hands a lot." Seager shined in big games, stood on his head in making 15 saves in a game against St. Viator this year, and posted 8 shutouts on the season and a 1.08 goals-against average.

Alex Scott Hinsdale Central Red Devils coach Mike Wiggins sums up his senior central defender this way: "He gives a team an intelligent player who gives relentless effort, while showing composure that looks effortless. He's one of the best to ever play here at Hinsdale Central." Scott moved from an outside to a central defensive position this year and didn't miss a beat in helping lead his team to a second consecutive supersectional game. Considering Atlanta's Emory University and Washington University in St. Louis.

Tim Zimmer Naperville Central This year's all-area captain completed his career as the Redhawks' best defender and the best player that Jay Konrad has had in his six years as coach. With composure, smarts, good size with deceptive quickness, the central defender also had one of the best legs on restarts in Illinois. The Northwestern-bound Zimmer chipped in 18 goals, 10 assists, and oversaw 48 shutouts in a four-year career. "My only failure was in not being able to find him a fifth year of eligibility," Konrad joked.
