Court gun ruling should be end of it
The decision has been made.
American citizens have the right to buy, own and bear handguns for self-defense, exactly as our Founding Fathers wanted it.
They knew what England did to them and they didn't want it happening in the United States again - a defenseless populace.
I don't understand how people can be upset by saying violence will increase.
In all the states that have concealed carry, the crime rate has dropped significantly.
This is fact, just check the FBI records, so what Mayor Daley and the governor are saying is absolutely not true.
Now they are saying they will fight the Supreme Court ruling.
Are they saying the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights do not apply to the citizens of Chicago?
If so, then neither does the First Amendment apply there, so the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times are operating illegally in that city.
When are people going to realize that an American citizen is an American citizen and that does not change because you cross state, county or city limits?
England has currently banned the possession of guns from its people and gun violence is out of control there.
Why can't officials here recognize that as truth and speak the truth instead of misleading through false statements?
Criminals will always have guns and the answer to solving crime is not by taking away the means of defense for the law-abiding person.
If someone breaks into your home with a gun to do harm, I know you would be saying, "I wish I had a gun to shoot back." I know you don't want to say "Excuse me, you are not allowed to have that gun."
The mayor and all the city council men in Chicago can carry a concealed weapon for protection. They insist though on telling you that you shouldn't for your protection.
What hypocrisy.
The polls on all the news stations after the ruling show the American people overwhelmingly support the decision. The Supreme Court said it, the American people believe it and that settles it.
