Tom Cruise car on display

The Volo auto museum hosts the 6th annual charity custom car show beginning at 10 a.m. today to raise money for the Expect a Miracle Foundation. Batmobile creator George Barris will be on hand and other famous TV and movie cars, including Don Johnson's Miami Vice Ferrari and the Lotus from Pretty Woman, will be on display. For the first time, the original Porsche 928 driven by Tom Cruise in Risky Business will be on display.

Baggo tournament

The Mundelein Park & Recreation District hosts it second annual Baggo Tournament at 3 p.m. today. The event is part of the Mundelein Community Days festivities, and will be held at Kracklauer Park, 100 N. Seymour St., Mundelein. The tournament is open to all ages. Art festival in Lincolnshire

The 10th annual Lincolnshire Fine Art Festival is set to run July 12 and 13 at the Village Green shopping center on Milwaukee Avenue at Olde Half Day Road. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free. Food, crafts and entertainment will be available, too.

Drainage workshop

Those detention ponds, drainage swales, wetlands and natural areas in your subdivision actually are part of a designed stormwater drainage system. A free workshop for homeowners associations and property owners responsible for maintaining the areas will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 14 at the Round Lake Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Way, Round Lake Beach. The workshop will deal with maintenance techniques and practices, scheduling and costs and typical problems. Walk-ins are welcome but registration is encouraged. Census takers sought

The village of Lindenhurst is looking for applicants to work as census-takers for an upcoming special census. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver's license, be able to climb stairs and do extensive walking, be able to write legibly and understand instructions and be available for a three-day training session and day, evening and weekend work.
