Greenberg honest and intelligent

I attended the town hall meeting in Gurnee on July 8. I was very impressed with Congressional candidate Steve Greenberg and his focus on the people of the 8th District. During the meeting he stressed the importance of not only being a voice for his constituents, but also resisting Washington bureaucracy and special interests. He is committed to creating and voting for legislation that is important to our district. This is a refreshing contrast to our current representative, Democrat Melissa Bean, who failed to vote on an important piece of tax legislation that affects the people of our district.

Greenberg, a Republican, has demonstrated willingness to work with members of both parties to enact important legislation. When discussing government's increasing amount of spending he was quick to clarify that this is a bipartisan problem. Greenberg will not be swayed by special interest groups or be tempted to vote strictly by party lines. In our contentious world of political disagreement it is refreshing to hear a voice that is willing to work with both sides to bring about solutions to the problems we face.

I was also impressed with Greenberg's knowledge and carefully thought-out positions on important issues. For example, when asked about whether the United States should send military forces to Darfur, he explained that before sending troops anywhere they must be properly trained. Such a mission would require them to be trained in the culture and politics of the region which would be different than that which is required in typical military operations. He made clear that we must never send our troops into a situation for which they have not been properly trained as this puts their lives at unnecessary risk and jeopardizes the success of any mission.

Greenberg was honest and sincere in explaining his positions and committed to resist the temptation to vote with lobbyists and special interest groups. I will happily vote for Steve Greenberg in November.
