Seals wants an end to war with Iraq
U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk came in with the Bush administration in 2001 and needs to leave with it next January.
The war in Iraq was based on a conspiratorial deception of massive proportions, and Mr. Kirk, through his continued silence on the matter, is at least guilty of being a partisan sympathizer. After the just issued Senate Select Committee on Intelligence majority report (endorsed by two Republicans on the committee), there can be no doubt left that U.S. military intervention in Iraq in 2003 was based on distortions, propaganda and lies.
Former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's new book, "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder", lays out the airtight, beyond-a-shadow-of-a-doubt case that the actions of this president and his co-conspirators rise to the level of "monumentally criminal behavior" for "knowingly and deliberately taking this country to war in Iraq under false pretenses," thus causing the deaths and maimings of many tens of thousands of human beings.
Democratic challenger for the 10th District seat, Dan Seals, has been consistently outspoken in his opposition to this war and will seek to end our involvement in a manner that will be both expeditious and will minimize harm to our troops.
As a relative unknown in 2006, Mr. Seals came within 6 percent of unseating the incumbent Mr. Kirk. Now that the full extent of Republican deception and complicity on Iraq is known, we must not repeat the costly mistake (in terms of lives, as well as our national treasure) of reelecting an unrepentant advocate of this war.
