Escaping Illinois
Suburbanites looking to get out of town without splurging on gas can grab a seat on Harper's bus for one of several summer excursions coordinated by the College.
The first trip, on Friday, June 27, will take participants to the Milwaukee Art Museum and Summerfest, Milwaukee's famed music-and-food extravaganza. Tickets are $50 for general admission, with discounts for senior citizens and students. The bus departs Harper at 10 a.m. from Lot 12, off the Roselle Road entrance, and returns around midnight. The museum stop will include lunch, a guided tour and access to the latest exhibition - 200 works by sculptors Gilbert Proesch and George Passmore. Participants will be on their own afterward to explore Summerfest.
The Milwaukee Culture and Music excursion is the first in a series of day trips hosted by Harper this summer. Another will take participants to Little Norway and Cave of the Mounds in southwest Wisconsin on Friday, July 18; the final journey will hand you a seat to the Wednesday, July 30 Chicago Cubs game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. For tickets or information, call (847) 925-6100.
