Geneva Battle of the Bands postponed

High water lapping at Island Park in Geneva has prompted the Geneva Park District to postpone the Battle of the Bands that was to take place in the Fox River park Saturday.

Instead, the event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at the "Third Street Dancin'" youth street dance in front of the Kane County Courthouse, 100 S. Third St.

Originally, only the first- and second-place finishers were to perform at the dance.

The event is free.

Six bands are registered to compete.

Last year in August, the Fox River flooded the park, forcing the cancellation of the Fox Valley Folk Festival.
