Change that would resemble Carter

Mr. Newlin (Fence Post, June 2) is a very clever writer, however he obviously was not alive during the Carter administration. Either that or his blind hate of President Bush has altered his memory.

You all think things are bad now, how about double-digit inflation, double-digit unemployment rates, a double-digit prime lending rate, and mortgage interest at 17 percent.

Not to mention a foreign policy that made us the laughingstock of the world.

For those of you who weren't alive for this, take a moment and do some research.

For those of you who lived through it, take a realistic look at how things were in the late seventies, this is change Obama will bring.
