Hyatt Corporation honored Palatine resident Michael Panko with its Director of Sales of the Year Award for hotels 601 rooms plus. Panko, an 11-year Hyatt veteran, is the director of sales at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago. This was his third nomination for the award, the others being in 2000 and 2001 at Hyatt Regency, Indianapolis.
First Chicago Bank & Trust, Itasca, named John Littrell senior vice president, asset-based lending; and Andrew Bennett, Jame Low and Joseph Ach, vice presidents, asset based lending. Christine Kiessling was named a commercial banking assistant.
With over 25 years of public accounting and corporate tax experience, Peter F. Simpson joined the Chicago office of Grand Thornton LLP as the partner-in-charge of international tax of the Midwest region.
The Resurrection Development Foundation, Des Plaines, named Kate Monteleone of St. Charles vice president, development. The Resurrection Development Foundation raises funds which enhance patient care and facilities at Resurrection Health Care, a nonprofit Catholic health care system sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and the Sisters of the Resurrection.
Crowe Chizek and Company LLC appointed the following individuals in its Oak Brook office: Kathryn Reid, manager, assurance and financial advisory; and Matthew Schumann, senior staff, assurance and financial advisory.
John G. O'Brien and Stuart H. Wolf, both of Arlington Heights, were re-elected board chairman and reappointed association attorney and parliamentarian, respectively, of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. O'Brien is a sole practitioner in Arlington Heights and concentrates in real estate and estate planning. Wold, also a sole practitioner in Arlington Heights, concentrates in the areas of business, real estate, estate planning and related litigation.
Michael J. Ziener was appointed executive director of the Chicagoland area affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Ziener will oversee all aspect of the affiliate.
Schaumburg-based Clifton Gunderson, a certified public accounting and consulting firm, named Jon Hoffmeister a partner of the firm. Hoffmeister joined the firm in November of 2006, as a senior manager.
Oak Brook-based Federal Signal Corporation's Safety and Security Systems Group elected David Dealy and Jack Hartman to its advisory board. Most recently Dealy was head of transportation and operations for The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company. Hartman serves as the chief executive officer of the Rise Group.
The Marianjoy board of directors, Wheaton, appointed Donald H. Fischer chairman of the board. Fischer, who is the chairman of Community Bank-Wheaton/Glen Ellyn, is also a board member of the Glen Ellyn Rotary Club Foundation and the Wheaton Lion's Club and a member of the Wheaton economic restructuring committee. Additionally, Patrick J. Kronwnwetter of Glen Ellyn, an attorney with Wolin, Kelter & Rosen Ltd., Chicago; and Maureen Buckley, the executive vice president and chief lending officer for Leaders Bank, Oak Brook, were elected as members of the Marianjoy board of directors.
Dan Schwiesow has joined the Aurora branch of Amcore Bank as a vice president and commercial relationship manager. Schwiesow, who has over 23 years of commercial banking and relationship management experience, previously served as a senior commercial loan officer for Citizens Financial Bank. Additionally, Melissa Schmuldt Norwood, credit analyst, was promoted to commercial relationship manager and officer in Amcore's Aurora office.
Larry Thomas, vice president and chief operating officer of Baxter & Woodman Inc., Crystal Lake, was awarded Honorary Membership in the American Water Works Association during the organization's annual conference in Atlanta, for his knowledge and accomplishments in the field of water supply.
Jim Warp, founder and chief executive officer of Lighthouse Coaching Services, has accepted a third term as president of the board of directors of Resources for Community Living, Rolling Meadows.
Wendy Brown, a College of Lake County professor of anthropology and sociology, has received a Fullbright-Hays Fellowship to study in India. Her study and research will focus on peace studies, nonviolence and global sustainability. Brown was one of 14 Illinois postsecondary educations selected to take part in the fellowship grant, whish is being coordinated by Oakton Community College.
Music Institute of Chicago appointed Emily Abraham dean and vice president of academic affairs at Music Institute of Chicago's Community School. Abraham, an accomplished flutists and teacher, was serving as interim vice president of academic affairs at the school.
The Northwest Suburban Bar Association installed Richard P. Miller president for the 2008-08 fiscal year. Additionally, the association presented Richard S. Kling, professor of clinical law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, with its Pro Bono Service Award and Neil H. Good with its Leadership Award.
