Galena surprises him with honesty
What's up with big towns like Wheeling and Arlington Heights with no hearts?
After reading two letters in the June 16 Fencepost regarding the Wheeling "grass violator" who received a notice about the 8-inch grass/weeds on his property even after all the rain we've experienced, etc., and then the unfortunate woman from Bensenville who received a ticket while parked in the Arlington Heights parking garage while attending their art show, I was compelled to write about my story.
While visiting Galena, I paid for and received a receipt to park in their lot. Neglecting to place the receipt on my windshield, I received a parking violation fine. When mailing the check to Galena, I also mailed my paid parking receipt.
Two weeks later, a Galena officer called to tell me they were shredding my check as I did pay to park. They could have kept my check, but didn't.
