Dunham Road north of Wayne will be reduced to one lane for a roadside construction project that will start today. Motorists should expect delays along Dunham in the area of Stearns Road until June 18, transportation officials said. For more information, call (630) 845-7875.
Birding in St. Charles
Several area park and forest preserve districts will host a birding program Thursday night on the Fox River. The Birding by Boat tour will shove off from Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles at 7 p.m. and return at 9 p.m. The cost is $20 a person. Lunch and learn
The Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon for lunch Thursday at the Sugar Grove Fire Department, 25 S. Municipal Drive. Speaker Ronaelle Carlson will discuss how the Kaneland Foundation improves education in Kaneland schools. Cost is $15.
Cruise nights in Batavia
The Batavia Jaycees have announced the 2008 Cruise Night schedule. The Cars Under the Stars event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 27, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8, Aug. 22 and Sept. 5 on the Riverwalk on Houston Street. Storm debris collected
The Sugar Grove public works department will be collecting tree debris from recent storms through Friday. The brush and debris must be placed in the parkway, not on private property. Limbs and branches cannot exceed 14 inches in diameter. Public works will not cut debris still attached to the tree. Also, if a tree has been uprooted, residents must call a tree service. Bowes Creek master plan
The Kane County Forest Preserve will hold a public meeting on the master plan for the Bowes Creek Forest Preserve in Plato Township from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Residents can look at the plans for the preserve, ask questions and submit comments. The meeting will be in Building G at the Kane County Government Center, 719 Batavia Ave. in Geneva.
