Chamber shows its appreciation
The Wheeling/Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Arlington Park Racetrack to offer community appreciation weekend June 20 through 22 for residents of the two communities. Community forum gives D62 status
Charting the Path Community Forum will be from 7 to 9 p.m. June 18 at Chippewa Middle School, 123 Eighth Ave., Des Plaines. District 62 staff and members of the community have been studying the status of the district's instructional and facility programs, as well as how to house and educate its students. Car owner halts break-in
At 1:10 a.m. June 8, a parked car was broken into as it sat near Wilke and Nichols roads in Arlington Heights. The offender had broken a window and attempted to remove a GPS unit when interrupted by the vehicle owner. The offender is male black, 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches and 180 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts. The offender fled the area in a small four-door vehicle.

Learn how to find benefits online
The Social Security Administration is hosting a seminar on using the internet to learn about benefits from 2 to 3 p.m. June 21 at the Prospect Heights Library, 12 N. Elm St. They can also estimate future benefits, plan for retirement or learn how to save time and money by applying for benefits on their home or library computers. The same seminar will be available June 28 at the Mount Prospect Public Library.
