Garden clubs

The Arlington Heights Garden Club meets for its "Stump the Master Gardner" competition at 7 p.m. Monday at the Arlington Heights Library, 500 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights. Visitors welcome. (847) 962-9909.

Garden lectures

Spring Buff Nursery hosts Chicagoland Gardening Magazine publisher Bill Aldrich to discuss his latest book, "Container Gardens for the Midwest," at 10 a.m. Saturday at 41 W 130 Norris Road, Sugar Grove. No charge. Spring Bluff Nursery also offers a guided tour of Millennium Park's Lurie Garden in Chicago on Friday. No charge, but Metra tickets and reservations are required. Chicago Botanic Garden

The Dwarf Conifer Garden has been newly renovated and officially opens 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

Buck Howdy performs at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Silver Beams perform 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

"Nature Night" in the English Walled Garden includes a light meal and lets visitors work cooperatively to prune their plants at 5 p.m. Friday. Cost is $45.
