I-90 accident last night causes hours-long backup

The Northwest Tollway on Wednesday night, was closed shortly before 10:15 p.m. for about 30 minutes after a two cars collided, while traveling eastbound, near Higgins Road, according to Illinois State Police.

Eyewitnesses, however, said traffic was backed up for hours in the eastbound lanes, even though after the crash was cleared, the tollway was partially reopened in the right lane and shoulder open.

No one was killed, but crash victims were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment, said Master Sgt. David Furjanic from the Illinois State Police District 15.
