O'Hare expansion should be scrapped

With ticket prices rising along with the cost of jet fuel, and airlines cutting flights, has it occurred to anyone that maybe O'Hare Airport does not need another runway? Unless they discover a means of fueling commercial jets with water or rancid cooking oil, this situation is not likely to change in the foreseeable future. Why don't Mayor Daley and the city of Chicago scrap the O'Hare expansion project, sell or lease all acquired real estate, and use the resulting revenue to fund the CTA and Chicago Public Schools? Oh, what am I thinking? This is Chicago, favors have already been granted, deals made, contracts signed. Never mind!
