Dist. 301 names director
Central Community District 301 has hired a new director of curriculum and assessment to replace Fran Hughes, who is retiring. Maura Zinni has worked as an educator for nearly 30 years, most recently as principal of Edison Elementary School in Skokie. Zinni's first day is July 1.
Meet new congressman

Radio baseball talk
Billy Werber, the oldest living Major League Baseball player, will be one of several sports guests from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday on WRMN radio AM 1410. Werber, who turned 100 Friday, started his career with the New York Yankees in 1930 and led the American League in stolen bases three times. He remembers playing with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The broadcast also will feature former players from the Chicago White Sox and New York Mets, along with Elgin golfer Bob Thoren and former WGN radio and WGN TV announcer Floyd Brown.
