Are you the next 'Idol'?

Singers are being sought to perform in the Pride of the Fox RiverFest's annual Idol Search singing contest this weekend in St. Charles. There are varying age and gender contest categories. Ages 6 to 17 will perform Friday and those 18 and older will perform Saturday. Daily registration starts at 12:30 p.m., with performances starting at 1 p.m. at the Harris Riverside Stage, at First Avenue and East Main Street. Eco poster contest

Children can tell people how to save the environment in a Geneva poster contest for grades kindergarten through 12. All artwork must be on an 11-by-14-inch white poster board. The top 20 entries will be displayed at the Swedish Days "Green Geneva -- An Eco-Fun Expo" June 17-22 and a goodie basket will be awarded to three entrants. To register: Write your name, address, phone number and age and grade as of May 31. Drop it off at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, 8 S. Third St., by 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Free breakfast for kids

Children ages 12 and younger can come dressed in their pajamas and enjoy a free breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Sweet Tomatoes restaurants' new location at 986 N. Route 59, Aurora. Measles alert

Four cases of measles in DuPage County were recently confirmed in school-age children. There are currently no confirmed cases in U-46 schools. Measles should be suspected in any patient with a fever, rash and cough, cold symptoms, conjunctivitis or red, runny eyes. Patients suspected of having measles should contact their physician for evaluation. Measles is highly contagious. Infected people are usually contagious from about four days before their rash starts to four days afterward. Call the DuPage County Health Department at (630) 682-7400, ext. 7553.

Miss Illinois pageant

The 2008 Miss Illinois Pageant returns to St. Charles' Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road, June 18 to 21. The competition includes swimsuit and evening gown modeling, talent performances, and onstage Q&As. Twenty-five Illinois women are scheduled to compete.
