Get a massage

The massage therapy program at Elgin Community College offers student-run massage clinics open to the public throughout the summer. Clinics are held Saturdays through July in the massage therapy clinic, Room 214 of the Advanced Technology Center on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The fee is $35 for an hourlong session. Massage therapy clinic III is a course in the final semester of student training designed to provide students with the opportunity to completely run their own clinical business with ECC supervisory staff on site. Students serve as both office managers and therapists to prepare themselves to enter their chosen profession after passing the national certification exam and obtaining a state of Illinois license. Windmill Whirl 5K coming

Spots are open for the Windmill Whirl 5K community run during Windmill City Fest in Batavia. The run is at 7 p.m. July 11, starting at Houston Street and Island Avenue and following the Fox River bike trail. There are awards for top finishers. Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County.
