Cougars slip past Snappers

Scott Mitchinson posted his seventh quality start in his last 8 outings, and Shane Keough delivered a 2-run single during a fifth-inning rally as the Kane County Cougars held off the Beloit Snappers for a 4-3 win Sunday before 6,942 at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva. The Cougars lead the Snappers by 4½ games for the first-half wild-card playoff spot with seven games left.
