Elgin teen charged with attempted murder

An Elgin teen was accused early Saturday of trying to kill another teen during a fight at a party, police said.

A 19-year-old male had been stabbed multiple times. He was in stable condition Monday at Sherman Hospital, police said.

Francisco Jaimes, 18, of 574 Barrett St., was charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed violence, three counts of aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon and mob action, police said.

Hakeim Alajuan Johnson, 17, of 108 S. Channing St., Elgin, was charged with mob action and battery.

South Elgin Police Sgt. Mike Doty said police were called at 12:17 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Martin Drive, where they saw a large group of people running from the party house.

"Words were exchanged as the party ended, and it escalated outside," Doty said.

A bloody knife was recovered, police said.

Jaimes' bond was set Sunday $150,000. Bond for Johnson was set at $2,500.

Both remain in the Kane County jail with court dates on June 10 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

South Elgin police ask anyone who attended the party or who has information about the incident to call (847) 741-2151.
