Man freed from prison

A man who spent more than 13 years in prison for killing an Illinois State University student is out of prison, about a month after the state's highest court overturned his conviction. Attorney Jeff Urdangen represents Alan Beaman. He says Beaman posted bond around 7 p.m. Thursday and intends to go to his parents' home in Rockford. Beaman was convicted in 1995 in the death of Jennifer Lockmiller. But the Illinois Supreme Court threw out the conviction last month. He remains charged with Lockmiller's murder. And McLean County prosecutors say they intend to retry him. Beaman attorney Karen Daniel says she and prosecutors agreed on a $250,000 bond. Beaman posted 10 percent of that amount. His first court appearance will be July 2nd.
