Beeler wins women's amateur state golf title

During a rain-soaked morning, Brooke Beeler of Butler chipped in on the 17th hole to defeat Marisa Milligan of Normal and claim the title for the 75th Illinois Women's State Amateur Golf Championship at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield.

Beeler won the IWGA Junior Golf Tournament in 2006. She completed her senior year at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro and will be attending Texas Christian University next fall.

Medalist and runner up Marisa Milligan won the 2005 IWGA State Amateur.

A St. Charles golfer, Jaime Reints, finished first in the First Flight division over Char McLear of McHenry, 1 up.
