The Growing Place in Naperville co-sponsors a Parkinsons Benefit Garden Walk for the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at 25w471 Plank Road, Naperville. Featured is a big band, appetizers, wine and more. $50 donation. (630) 357-4175.

Chicago Gardening Magazine and The Growing Place sponsor private tours via coach bus of the Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Gardens, Anderson Japanese Gardens and the private gardens of LaPaloma in Rockford from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. The Chicago Cajon Aces perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The fourth annual Summer Dinner Dance, a black-tie soiree to benefit the garden's conservation, education and research programs, is 7 p.m. Friday. The $600 starting ticket includes cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and more.

A workshop on the art of pruning presented by horticulturist Tom Tyler is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $37.
