Former Spring Grove principal pleads guilty in sex crime case
Former Spring Grove Elementary School Principal Daniel Markofski pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to bringing two teenage girls to a Wisconsin motel room, giving them marijuana and alcohol, then performing sex acts on one while the other watched.
Markofski, 47, was fired by Nippersink Elementary District 2 in April after he was charged with two counts of exposing a child to harmful material and one count of sexual intercourse with a child age 16 or older.
The former principal could have spent up to 7 years behind bars if convicted of the crimes, but in plea bargain with the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, Markofski is expected to spend 18 months in prison and an additional 18 months on parole, said Assistant District Attorney Christine Quinn.
That sentence will be imposed if approved by a judge on Oct. 29, Quinn added.
Markofski, formerly of 5713 Broadway St. in Richmond, was arrested in Glendale, Wisc., just north of Milwaukee, after an officer on routine patrol found him partially clothed in a motel room with two girls ages 15 and 16. The officer entered the hotel room after smelling marijuana while on a walk through the building, authorities said.
Markofski performed a sex act on the 16-year-old - whom he met on a telephone chat line - while the younger teen was in the room, prosecutors said.
Markofski was also charged with ordering a pornographic movie, purchasing wine coolers and cognac and giving the girls marijuana-laced cigars in the motel room.
