Who benefits from market failure?

I have to ask myself why? What do the financial institutions have to gain or fear from a Barack Obama presidency? I have been saying for years that our nation is financially bankrupt. So why now? Who has to gain in all this turmoil? Has this calamity been set off or orchestrated without caring who gets hurt? I can see only one person or persons who could benefit.
