Nice response to Naperville Responds
Naperville Responds has met their goal of securing funds to build 20 homes in Pass Christian, Miss., a city devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Through their numerous fundraising events and the generosity of the citizens of Naperville, they have achieved their goal.
Even so, there is still a dire need to help citizens of "The Pass" get back on their feet.
Several weeks ago I watched as a group of concerned citizens came together to help a needy family there. I am referring to the softball tournament sponsored by District 204 to help build a home for one family in Pass Christian.
It was a real inspiration to see students and faculty coming together to help at least one family devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The compassion, the concern and the commitment of all the participants is a credit to our community.
As we approach the holiday season and experience all the joy that it brings, it should be noted that the citizens of Naperville, and in particular the students and faculty of District 204, have spread this joy to others. I can think of no better way to extend holiday greetings than to help put a roof over one's head. Well done District 204! We all can learn from your example.
