Semi skids into ditch; Haz-Mat team cleaning up

A hazardous-materials crew is cleaning up this morning after a semitrailer truck skidded off the road and into a ditch on Palatine Road east of Route 53 in Arlington Heights.

The truck could be leaking gas, though police said no one in is danger.

It's unclear what caused the crash or whether other vehicles were involved, but Arlington Heights police say no one was injured.

A major traffic jam has formed in the eastbound lanes. Palatine Road remains open in both directions.
