Goalie for Mexican national soccer team arrested
A goalie for Mexico's national soccer team is facing misdemeanor trespassing and resisting arrest charges after an incident at a downtown Chicago hotel.
Police say Oswaldo Sanchez was asked to leave the Westin Michigan Avenue early Monday and refused. The hotel called police, who arrested Sanchez when he again refused to leave.
Sanchez told reporters in Mexico City that teammates were listening to music in their room and wouldn't turn it down as the hotel asked. Sanchez says police arrived as he was trying to calm things down, grabbed him, sprayed him with tear gas and took him into custody.
Police officials confirmed officers did use pepper spray to subdue Sanchez, explaining he was resisting arrest.
Mexico beat Peru 4-0 in an exhibition game at Soldier Field on Sunday.
